LeBron James as a Changemaker. A changemaker is someone with the knowledge, talent, and resources to create positive changes in our society. Changemakers motivate others, problem-solve, and try to improve the quality of life for those around them. Modernly, one of the best known changemakers is arguably LeBron James. Many people recognize LeBron as being one of the top basketball players of all-time; however, his reach is much broader than basketball alone. Through education, community support, social activism, and philanthropic efforts, LeBron James has leveraged his successes to open doors for others and positively affected society. LeBron James was born in Akron, Ohio, on December 30th, 1984. LeBron grew up with numerous challenges. Some of these included having no steady income and a very unstable living situation. Despite the difficulties he experienced, LeBron continued to excel in basketball. As a result, he was one of the most highly anticipated high school athletes in his...

Cristiano Ronaldo's Impact : Blog 2

Image
For this project, I chose Cristiano Ronaldo because soccer has always been one of my biggest passions. I have followed the sport for many years, and as a Real Madrid fan, Ronaldo has always been one of my favorite players. Throughout his career, I watched him score incredible goals, break records, win championships, and become one of the greatest athletes in history. Because I already knew a lot about his accomplishments on the field, I thought this project would be easy. However, I quickly realized that there was much more to Cristiano Ronaldo than just soccer. This project allowed me to learn about his influence on society, his charitable work, and the positive impact he has had on millions of people around the world. When I first selected Ronaldo as my topic, I focused mainly on his achievements as a player. Most people know him because of his goals, trophies, Ballon d'Or awards, and success with clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al Nassr. He is also ...

Before these presentations, I thought of changemakers as people who became famous for doing something important. After listening to the presentations about the 1800s, 1900s, and 2000s, I realized that being a changemaker is much more than that. A changemaker is someone who stands up for what they believe in, even when it is difficult, and helps create opportunities for others. Learning about these individuals helped me understand how much courage it takes to challenge unfair systems and inspire change.      One person who stood out to me was Susan B. Anthony. It was interesting to learn about how hard women had to fight just to have a voice in government. Today, voting feels like a normal right, so it is easy to forget that women were once denied that opportunity. Susan B. Anthony spent years advocating for women's rights even when many people disagreed with her. It takes courage to speak out about a topic that so many people oppose you on and stand fi...

Nathaly Garcia We had all started the first week off in our SPC 1017 class with being divided into groups, within the group we had each been tasked to do research on a chapter the professor assigned. We each got put into our groups and I was placed with group 3.  At first I was a little nervous, since when it came down to project presentations, personally the project part is something rather easy to complete, I tend to feel it is more nerve-wrecking to present the project itself. It was only the first week of class and we had already been assigned with a project while people were withdrawing from class and others were being added into the class. Meaning there had been many switches and removals within each group and with group roles being rearranged. By the end when the student roster had been set, I was able to actually see who were the people I would be working with and we began to work all together as I got the chance to also meet new people. Now when it comes down to learning a...

Reflection Summary on Intercultural Communication, Group Communication, and Problem Solving Roberto Suarez       The speech presented in class focused on several important topics related to intercultural communication, communication in groups, leadership, and systematic problem solving. Overall, I found the presentation very educational because it explained how communication affects almost every aspect of life, including relationships, teamwork, education, and professional environments. The topics discussed during the presentation helped me better understand the importance of respecting cultural differences, improving communication skills, and learning how to collaborate effectively with others. I believe the speech was meaningful because it connected many concepts that people experience in everyday situations, especially in schools, workplaces, and social environments.   Culture and communication were one of the first concepts discussed during the presentation....

Hello everyone I’m Takiya Mckellar. I attend Miami Dade College and I will be talking about my experience and thoughts on the presentation. I can honestly say I enjoyed and learned something from this experience. Each group had different topics to talk about, even though some parts were stronger than others, I can see the effort and time everyone put in, including myself. The three group topics were intercultural communications, communicating in groups, and leadership and problem solving, all three connected well because they all focused on how people work with others. Overall, the presentations helped me understand not just the content, but also how important teamwork, preparation, and confidence are when speaking in front of others.  The first group presented on intercultural communication, and I found their topic to be very relevant in today’s diverse academic and professional environments. They explained how people from different cultural backgrounds communicate differently, in...

William Acosta Reflection on Chapter 10 Presentation

Image
I honestly believed that Chapter 10 would be another straightforward chapter about group projects and leadership prior to our presentation. Since people frequently work in groups without giving it much thought, it initially seemed like one of those topics that seems obvious. However, I discovered there is much more to communication, leadership, and problem solving than I had anticipated once we really began preparing the presentation and listened to everyone's contributions. The chapter seemed much more applicable and helpful since many of the ideas were related to real-life scenarios like school assignments, collaboration, meetings, and even future employment. The methodical approach to problem-solving was one of the things that most caught my attention. I had never given much thought to how groups work through challenges step-by-step before this lecture. The majority of people typically don't really understand the issue before attempting to find a quick solution. According t...
