My Experience Working on the Shared Leadership Presentation
For our SPC1017 class, my group was assigned Chapter 10, which focused on shared leadership and teamwork within groups. One member of my group divided Chapter 10 into sections, and each person was assigned a different part to present. I was assigned the section about shared leadership roles, including task leadership roles, maintenance leadership roles, and procedural leadership roles. At first, I felt a little nervous because presentations are not always easy for me, but as we started working together, I became much more motivated and excited about the project.
Each member of the group had to create about three slides based on their assigned section of the chapter. We worked on our slides individually first, and then one of our group members combined everyone’s slides together into one complete presentation. I really liked the way we organized the assignment because it allowed every person to contribute equally. Everyone had an important role, and no one was left out of the project.

Another section I presented was maintenance leadership roles. These roles help groups maintain positive relationships and work well together. I explained supporters, harmonizers, mediators, interpreters, and tension relievers. Personally, this was one of my favorite parts of the chapter because I realized how important support and communication are in teamwork. I enjoy helping and supporting others, so I connected with this section the most. During our group project, everyone respected each other’s opinions and worked together calmly, which made the entire experience more enjoyable and less stressful.
The last section I covered was procedural leadership roles, including gatekeepers, recorders, logistics coordinators, and expediters. These roles help organize the group and make sure everything runs smoothly. Before this project, I never really thought about how important organization is in teamwork. I learned that successful groups need people who help keep track of deadlines, organize information, and make sure everyone participates equally.
I also enjoyed seeing how everyone’s individual slides came together into one presentation. Even though we each worked on different sections, all the information connected well because it was all part of Chapter 10. When we presented in class, each person spoke about their assigned section one by one. I think this helped the presentation flow naturally and made it easier for the class to understand the topic.
At first, I was nervous about presenting in front of the class because public speaking can sometimes make me anxious. I worried about forgetting information or making mistakes while speaking. However, once I started presenting my slides, I felt much more confident. Preparing my section ahead of time and understanding the material helped me feel comfortable while presenting. I also felt encouraged by my group members because everyone was supportive of one another.
Another reason I enjoyed this assignment was that it felt more interactive than simply reading from a textbook. Instead of memorizing definitions, we had to explain the concepts in our own words and teach them to the class. This helped me understand the chapter much better. I also realized that shared leadership applies to many real-life situations, such as school projects, workplaces, sports teams, and even friendships.
This project also taught me the importance of communication. Good teamwork does not only happen because people are smart or talented. It happens when group members listen to each other, support each other, and work together toward the same goal. I think our group did a good job communicating and cooperating throughout the assignment, which made the experience positive for me.
Overall, I truly enjoyed working on this presentation with Group #3. This assignment helped me improve my communication skills, presentation skills, and confidence. Most importantly, it helped me understand the true meaning of teamwork and shared leadership. I learned that every person in a group has something valuable to contribute, and when people support each other, the group becomes much stronger. This presentation was a positive experience for me, and it helped me appreciate teamwork in a completely different way.
